Adrenalin ATV Riders Dominate MWTRA Suzuki Sponsored Forestry Championship!

Adrenalin ATV Riders Stuart Jones, Roger Page and Gary Wright dominated the Suzuki Sponsored Forestry Championship on their Can-Am DS450XMX's in the Ceri Forest Mid Wales.

The 3 hour hare and hounds event set in the gruelling Ceri Forest ended up with Stuart Jones winning the Pro Class and Roger Page coming in 2nd. Both riders are using the Custom Axis Pro-Air shock set up which paid dividends today in the endless whoops and forestry hazards.

Congratulations also goes to Gary Wright who was riding a completely stock Can-Am DS450XMX but completely destroyed the competition in the Expert class and spent most of the race up with the Pro's. Gary was using stock running gear on his 2009 Can-Am DS450XMX which proves yet again out of the crate the Can-Am DS450XMX has what it takes.

Well done to all three riders!

More information on the MWTRA club can be found at http://www.mwtra.co.uk/

Adrenalin ATV Riders Success at Weston Beach Race 2009!

Adrenalin ATV Riders Stuart Jones and Billy Langford proved they had what it takes to master one of the harshest races in the world, Weston Beach Race. On a unsually very sunny day, 15 Year old Billy Langford on his Adrenalin ATV Yamaha Raptor 250 manged to pull off a 2nd place finish in the Youth ATV race amongst some very strong competition. Billy came back up from 5th to 2nd and was closing fast on the overall race winner. If there had been 1 more lap in the race Billy would have taken the #1 spot for sure and all this on his first attempt at Weston!

Adrenalin ATV Pro rider Stuart Jones headed out in the afternoon for his debut race on the Adrenalin ATV Can-Am DS450. Amongst over 350 ATV's, Stuart had to fight from the back to gain a descent starting position off the line. After the first lap, Stuart was sitting in 24th position but kept claiming places back every lap until eventually he was in the top 10. With 30 mins left he was up to 7th with fellow Can-Am rider Justin Reid closing fast. The 2 DS450 riders had a fantastic battle with Reid just pipping Staurt at the post. Overall Stuart came in 9th which was a fantastic achievement on a very very harsh and gruelling race.

After the days racing, many beverages were comsumed and there were many sore heads on Sunday morning for the Solo race. Unfortunately due to the accident the solo race was cancelled. This was a huge shame for all the riders and spectators that were taking part but ultimately all our thoughts go out to the riders that were involved in the incident. It was a terrible shame and we wish everyone a speedy and successful recovery.

Overall, Saturday was a fantastic day for Adrenalin ATV and congratualtions to Stuart and Billy for achieving fantastic results on the day.

Adrenalin ATV 2009 MX Champions in Debut Year!

Gareth McClean - Irish Quadcross MX Champion 2009

Irish Quadcross Championship Round 8. Doone, Athlone.

Going into the final with a 43 point lead, Adrenalin ATV Rider 17 year old Gareth McClean kept a cool head
to win his and Can-Am's DS450 XMX First Quadcross Championship in the British Isles.

Qualifying.
On the long hard pack track of Doone, qualifying was difficult, with riders taking breaks
in between their laps, but on the last lap i qualifyed 2nd which was important, so i
would have a good gate pick.

Race 1
I had selected turf tamer tyres for the hard pack track, but the start gate was long
fresh grass which meant i had a lot of wheel spin at the gate and rounding the first
corner in 6th place. Once i settled into a good rythem and with the quad handling so
well on the Suspension i started to pick up places by late braking into corners.
By lap 2 i had moved into 4th place, and on lap 4 i had moved into 2nd place, were
i felt very confident on the bike and did'nt need to push for the win. So i backed of
the pace for the last two laps taken 2nd place and the fasted lap time with it.

Race 2
Again the very same set up as race one, only this time i got a better start as the grass
was well flattened and managed to round the first corner in 3rd place. I could easily
sit with the pace of 1st and 2nd place and did'nt need to push it, as this was going
to be the winning points race. On the third lap i gained 2nd place and the quad was
just perfect for me. I finished the race in 2nd position and with that i claimed the Championship.

Overall,
It has been a hard year, and a hard Championship. Adrenalin ATV have given me a
Championship Bike in its first year, and I feel there is more to come from both the
Quad and myself. I am very pleased with the Can-am DS450 XMX a really good
out of the box ready to race quad.

This was Gareths first year on board a 450 after moving up from the 250 class. To pull off an overall Championship win on his debut year is unbeleivable. Its not been without problems but together we have worked hard to make sure the bike has kept reliable and powerful in the highly competitive Irish 450 MX.

Congratualtions again to Gareth and his Father Nigel McClean. We look forward to dominating 2010!

Adrenalin ATV Wins the DQR 2009 Championship!

Adrenalin ATV Pro Rider Stuart Jones clinched the 2009 DQR Enduro Championship today on his 2009 Can-AM DS450XMX with fellow Adrenalin Rider Roger Page finishing 2nd overall also on an Adrenalin Can-Am DS450XMX.Also Adrenalin ATV Rider Craig Mc Cormik took his Can-Am Renegade 800 X to victory in the 4x4 class to win the championship.

Stuart only needed to finish 3rd today to clinch the title overall but made sure by taking it easy and boxing clever coming in 2nd behind Martin Benbow. With Weston Beach Race looming next weekend it was paramount that Stuart rode a smooth and controlled ride and with not needing the win he could relax and make sure he hit 1 of the top 3 positions.

Stuart said " As hard as it is to sit back and not go full throttle, sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture. I knew it would be a tough race but the bike went well today. Combined with the drive and hook up of the ITP GNCC tyres and my new Custom Axis Pro-Air shocks, the bike was so well balanced even on some of the extreme off camber sections of the track. The 'X' link system from Custom Axis came into its own today allowing me to keep the power on and carry far more speed in and out of the corners "

This is Stuart and Rogers first year racing in the DQR on the Can-Am DS450XMX and to pull off 1st and 2nd place overall against some very stiff competition is fantastic.

Both of them have been running ITP GNCC all year as their tyre of choice along with Custom Axis Suspension. The GNCC is far lighter taking less power to turn than the nearest competitor utilising all the hp from bike and applying it to the ground. The new Custom Axis Pro-Air front shocks coupled with the new innatitive 'X' Link system has enabled both riders to hit the tracks and corner at far higher speed than there competitors. Combine this with the new Custom Axis rear shock with 'PRS (Plush Ride System)' and we truly have found a winning set up. Thanks must go to the guys at Custom Axis as well especially Micah Macdonough. He has helped us to achieve the correct set-up in our debut year with Custom Axis.

The win today is Stuarts first major championship title which sets him in good stead for the grand national of the ATV calender next weekend, Weston Beach Race.

Its been a long year and a lot of hard work has gone into making sure the bikes have kept reliable. Problems did occur as with any racing scenario but the Tech guy at Adrenalin have always made sure that the bikes have been on song.

Thanks must also go to Gary and Sally at DQR for putting on a fantastic championship as always and we look forward to what they have planned for 2010.

Congratulations again to Stuart and Roger on an impressive debut for the Can-Am DS450XMX in the harsh world of Enduro racing.

Congratulations also to Craig who through the season has had some very unlucky set-back's put pulled through in the end to secure the hard fought fight for first place.

Look forward to seeing eveyone on the beach next weekend, and good luck to all are team racers for WBR2009.

Adrenalin ATV 2009 DQR Enduro Championship CHAMPIONS!

24 HR Endurance Day Part 6

Part 6

Its over at last…

We eventually finished a respectable 5th with 29 laps completed in 12 hours 13 minutes with an average lap time of 25 minutes thanks to 2 laps lasting just over 2 hours each! We were just 2 laps off 4th place and 6 laps off 3rd. and 10 laps from 2nd. With our problems we lost about 4 hours racing and after analysing the results had we had a trouble free race we would have managed a comfortable 3rd and maybe even 2nd, but we would have been a long way off the top step of the podium with E-ATV managing a colossal 47 laps on their bespoke quad with a 950 CC KTM engine! Team RMX faired slightly better than us with Sabine Pulz and Nico Richter claiming second in the twin class. In the triple class our host Florian Meier, Andreas Rosenlőcher and Eric Ebeling managed to finish 5th despite Andreas breaking down, handing me the transponder on track and then beating me back to the pits on foot! Sorry Guys!!

But at the end of the day and after a beer, pizza (thanks Sven!) and a 14 hour sleep we awoke remarkably ache free thanks to the Skins compression clothing, and all agreed it was a thoroughly enjoyable, unique and special event. And despite our race not being as successful as we had initially hoped it was all the more interesting because of the problems we encountered and overcame with our determination to finish. The Can am DS450 performed flawlessly despite some self inflicted problems and some very bad luck. The quality aftermarket parts that were fitted (apart from that twist throttle, guys you haven’t converted me!!) certainly transformed the quad into an incredible race machine that has the potential to win in the right hands. The Walsh A-arms were worth the effort it took to set them up as the front end went exactly where you pointed it! And as for the Custom Axis Suspension, I think you would have to ride a quad with those fitted to fully appreciate how good they are! Thankfully my ITP GNCC Holeshot tyres held up extremely well considering how rough the track was in some places with only minimal damage to the sidewall no doubt inflicted by getting too close to those tree stumps. Andrew and Nathan are already planning to enter next years event which, if rumours are to be believed will be a 24 hour race! No doubt it won’t be too long until a similar event is held here in the UK and if it is, I thoroughly recommend entering it, even if it is just for the experience of racing at night.

I would sincerely like to thank Nathan and Andrew (especially Andrew as he missed out due to work commitments) for the opportunity to travel to Germany and represent Adrenalin ATV in my first (baptism of fire) race. No doubt it won’t be my last! Fellow rider Ben Harman who was flying (see the videos on youtube) and made our result respectable! Also huge thanks from all 3 of us to Florian for being the perfect host, and taking us for a spin in his Dodge Challenger. And a special thanks to everyone at RMX racing who couldn’t do enough to help us during the entire time we were there, because without them the task of entering this race would have been so much harder had we gone it alone.

24 Hr Endurance Day Part 5

Part 5

Race in the Daylight

About an hour later I awoke and made my way back to the pit area, I saw Nathan heading up towards our camp, obviously to wake me up as Ben was now on track. It was now daylight and feeling confident Ben stayed out longer than expected. When Ben came back it was now my turn again with what would be my final couple of laps of the race. I had finally discovered how to minimise my handicap with the twist throttle in the tighter wood sections, I would try and keep the throttle open about half to ¾ open in first or second gear and use the clutch to control my speed. More often than not I was on the limiter but I was making better progress in the woods as I got he knack of using the ruts to guide me through which also meant I didn’t have to man handle the quad every time I lost momentum and got stuck! The only trouble I had was when my goggles fogged up on the inside and as I was going through the second building and the light at the end of the tunnel was getting nearer I over shot the turn onto the exit slope, only slightly but it was enough for me to remove my goggles for the remainder of the race. Back to the pits for the change over and to refuel check all bolts were tight etc and Nathan was off for his last stint. During which time I decided to see who was where in the race at race control. To my surprise we were 4th and comfortably so! Nathan and particularly Ben had mad up for my lack of ability and maybe just maybe we could snatch 3rd and end up on the podium.

With the race nearing its end and Ben now on track we began to relax a little. The anticipation for the end of the race was growing as the music restarted as during the lead up to the race start. With just less than an hour and a half we got a phone call from Ben saying that the chain had come off on the road section, how could this be!? Had we tightened up the chain too much before he went out causing it to snap? Had the carrier bolts come loose causing the chain to slacken too much? These were just a few of the thoughts entering my head as we ran the half a mile to see him. The chain had indeed come off and after a few failed attempts of trying to get the chain on using brute force I ran back up to the pits to collect what tools I thought I needed to get Ben back onto the track to ensure this lap would be counted. On closer inspection however it became apparent that we would need more tools than I could carry. We took the decision to push the quad back to the pits where we would have all the tools we needed to ensure we finished the race. Due to nothing more than bad luck a stone had got caught in the chain causing it to come off the rear sprocket. The chain had also become jammed at the front sprocket bending the crank case saver and the mounting holes. With this damage, a phone call to Andrew Shepherd back at UK HQ was required to see if it was worth the risk to continue. Knowing that we would have to see the end of the race to classify a finish he agreed and we set to work repairing the bike as best we could. To get the chain back on we had to get the skid plate off, not an easy task when the skid plate was too bent to get to the securing bolts (I guess that those tree stumps did do some damage after all!). Luckily in the pits there was one of my favourite tools, a bloody great sledge hammer which I took great delight in using to get the skid plate straightened out in order to get it off. God knows what the on lookers must have thought! With a kindly donated skid plate from Mikes DS (our donor quad) Ben made it back on track to do one final “steady” lap to ensure we finished. Unfortunately Bens understanding of steady was not the same as ours which resulted in him having to do a second lap to see the chequered flag. After seeing Ben and all of the RMX racers finish the race it was back to the pits to congratulate each other on a job well done!

Part 4

The Race…Night Start

After the riders briefing (which was all but a pointless exercise luckily our translator was on hand!) we all made our way back to camp to get changed into our Lindstrands MX riding gear and Skins breathable compression clothing. By the time we made it back to the start area, darkness had fallen and the start area was now alive with the sound of dance music, with a “merry” crowd eagerly awaiting the start of the race, the atmosphere was starting to build.

The race was started under safety car/quad conditions and the prestige class (our class) was to lead. This was something we didn’t want to do in the hope that some of those quad killer tree stumps would be “removed” by those in front of us. We watched Ben go through on his first racing lap and then settled down in the pit area and wait for him to come in for our first rider change. Ben came into the pits a bit earlier than expected, pushing a lifeless quad. It was pretty obvious from the way it sounded when we tried to start it that the problem was electrical, but after connecting the battery to a booster the DS fired up and it was now my turn to take to the track. Unfortunately I only made it about half a mile or so round the track before going over a hump a bit quicker than I would have liked (to be explained later) jamming on the throttle and choosing to part company with the quad. I don’t actually remember hitting the deck I just remember getting back on the quad and trying to start it back up but all I heard was the sound of the relay switches clicking. Gutted I pushed the quad safely off the track and rang through to the pits explaining what had happened. As it took some time for Ben and Nathan eventually find me in the pitch black, I sat frustratingly and waited, watching the other riders go past, the only things that cheered me up was when someone else came a cropper on the same hump that I did and when I could hear Nathan and Ben calling out. Luckily where I parked the DS was a bit of unused track where we had enough room to try and get the quad bump started and after some help from a spectator and at least 10 attempts the DS sparked back into life. After regaining my breath and my composure I got back on the quad knowing that I had most of the lap to complete with the daunting thought that if it cuts out again I will be well and truly in trouble! I managed to keep the revs high and clutch in when needed until I got to the second checkpoint by the beehives when it all came undone again, The transponder chip bracelet was around my left wrist and the reader was on the right and as I had to stretch a little bit to rub the chip on the receiver and at that point I pulled the kill switch and the obvious thing happened. In the vain hope that there was enough charge in the battery I tried to restart the quad only to once again hear the haunting sound of a dead quad. Luckily enough for me the checkpoint was not too deep into the woods and after some help from the marshals I managed to get back on the road section where I found out that the pits were over a mile away! Inspired by Nigel Mansel’s heroic actions during the 80’s I was determined to get the quad back to the pits anyway possible which I am pleased to say didn’t involve me pushing the quad all that way back. A kind spectator gave me a tow with his van. If I had been a bit clever and braver I would have bump started the quad under the vans power and rejoined the track and made my lap count, but considering how things were going heading back to the pits was the best idea. When the quad arrived back we swapped those high intensity bulbs back to the stock ones in the hope that they were the only cause of our problems. After using the booster to again start the quad Nathan went out for his first laps and with fingers crossed we hoped that we wouldn’t see him for quite some time! During this time Ben explained that on his first lap the quad kept cutting out and that to prevent this he wound the throttle in a bit so it revved higher, which I now firmly believe was the reason why I ended up on my arse on my first lap! We were now 8th but with 9 hours left to go anything could happen (hopefully to our competitors!)

After about 4 laps Nathan came in for our first scheduled stop where we would refuel the quad and hope that when we came to re-start the quad we wouldn’t hear that familiar sound of nothing. We didn’t. And Ben was once again on his way. We were now racing, confident that our troubles were over and that the most important thing now was to finish the race.

As Ben came in it was now my turn yet again to race, hopefully I would get round the track at least once this time!! I took it steady to start with as I hardly knew the track, and didn’t get much faster than that! My lack of practice with the twist throttle was definitely showing, I was ok on the fast straight sections (as many people are) but in the tight and technical parts it was all or nothing as far as my throttle control was I just couldn’t steer and control the throttle with the same part of my body! And after a couple of laps of getting stuck continually in the deepening ruts I went into the pits for the rider change. I took this opportunity to head back to camp for a snooze.

24 Hr Endurance Day Part 3

Part 3

Off to the Race…

After a shocking nights sleep (for me anyway) we returned to RMX to load up the quads and everything we would need for the race. One thing we did notice that those guys like their big American pick ups! We were to make the 2 hour drive from Leipzig to Torgau in a campervan which RMX Racing had hired for our stay. There was enough room for all of us to be comfortable and sleep if needed despite our kitbags taking up loads of room. We stopped off at a garage intending to fill up on the necessary snacks for the race but were told that there would be another opportunity further in the journey. One useful thing we did pick up from the services was a small illumined digital clock to stick on the handlebars just so we could keep time on each of our stints without having to rely on pit boards. We arrived at the track around 1:30 pm and once we had circled the wagons in a precise German way we started to unload the bikes etc until one of the guys from RMX Racing told us to sit back and relax. We took this opportunity to go and have a walk around to see where everything was end explore the track.

The track itself was located on an old army barracks and had a mixture of everything. The first part of the lap was a combination of wide motocross sections and light to medium trail sections with a few humps dips and drop-offs to keep things challenging. The track then gradually entered an untamed wooded section. And when I say untamed I mean untamed! The only way we knew this was part of the track was the marking tape and more than a few tree stumps from freshly cut trees which we all agreed we would all take our time going through if we did not want our race to end early with a terminally damaged quad! Another MX/trail combination led onto a tarmac section through another untamed wood (where the second of 2 transponder points and bee hives were located) linked to yet another slightly easier wooded section by a fastish trail section. On the other side of this wooded section and after a steep drop-off through 2 concrete posts was a unique feature of this track where we had to go through the first of 2 buildings sleeping quarters or offices for the soldiers I presume?! No sooner had we exited the first building than we were up a slope into the second storey of the e second building then down the exit slope taking once again to parts of the MX track and transponder point through a tunnel and onto a very small but technical wooded section. From here a short trail section led to the quad pit area. Beyond this was a tight and tricky single trail section (not the railway sleepers and tires that we had feared, these were for the solos the day after) that led to the start of the lap.

When we arrived back at camp to find everything unloaded, a BBQ on the go and everyone just relaxed .After a hotdog it was time to sign in and take the quad to scrutineering once again our host Florian acted as translator so all we had to do was sign our names and that was that. The checks on the quad were equally as relaxed, just a tug of the cord to make sure the kill switch was functional, we didn’t even have to start the engine for this, or do a noise test, just a dab of green paint and we were on our way to the pit area to get things organised (to the sound of 80s rock music coming from the race control area!) Until 11:30 when we (as in Ben) was to start the race we just mooched around trying to find some snacks for the night, as we had neglected to buy some earlier, but all we had was fizzy water and protein bars (borrowed from Florian) trying to get some sleep before the race was all but impossible due to the nerves and excitement plus every now and then someone would fire up their quad and take it for a spin, obviously itching to get the race started!

Parts 4 the Race to follow.

We Arrive in Germany..

Part 2

On Thursday morning after a very European breakfast at our host Florian’s house we made our way to RMX racing to finish off what we hadn’t done in the UK. RMX racing is the German equivalent of Adrenalin ran by Florian and Andreas, with several mechanics plus a few others working for him. The building itself used to be a B&B and you can certainly tell. On one side is a pristine and stylish shop selling the usual after market products plus KTM branded items from dummies to toasters (RMX are KTM dealers so I suppose it makes sense). Through the front garage a nicely tiled work shop opens out into 3 working areas 2 identical bays with duplicate tooling means that 2 atvs can be worked on simultaneously, the third bay has more specialised tools and was mainly full of miscellaneous items. This area led onto a “clean” room where delicate engine and gearbox work was carried out those guys certainly make the most of the space they have. RMX is a busy place with quads coming and going out of the workshop all day and the guys only stopped working for the BBQ lunch and when the ice cream man arrived.

Back to our race quad and then the suspension plus those fairy jobs I mentioned we each took turns on taking the quad for ride. Just opposite the RMX quad factory, just to make sure everything was operational. As the engine was hot it seemed to be as good a time as any to change the oil an easy task the oil tank and engine bungs were a bit tight (finger tight is all that is needed!!). During the day we decided not to fit some additional LED lights as these would drain the battery, RMX offered to fit an additional battery on the nerf bars to power the additional lights but as we opted for an easier solution of replacing the stock bulbs for high intensity ones. Quad ready job done, time for beer and pizza!

24 Hr Endurance Day Race Report Part 1

The 24 Hour Endurance day is held in Torgau Germany, many of Europes best riders take part in this super tough XC race. With a 3 man Adrenalin ATV team of Ben Harman, Andy Vickers and Nathan John there was a chance of some silverware but we needed plenty of Snickers bars and Tachos...

Building the ATV…. Part 1

We took a stock Can am DS450 XXC that had been previously ridden by Adrenalin rider Steven Williams during a round of the QRA and DQR Enduro series which meant the bike was well run and used. To start with we removed the plastics and fitted the latest edition of the Adrenalin ATV race graphics so at least the bike would look the part. At the front the stock aluminium A-arms and shocks were removed and replaced with Custom Axis Pro Air shocks including the x Link and Walsh +2 LT A-arms. The custom axis shocks look awesome with the carbon fibre guards and you can tell by the X-link, shock diameter and build quality that these are worth the money and will perform well on track the x link is a central pressurised chamber that is connected to each shock, the idea being that when you hit a bump some of the shock air pressure is transferred between the shocks keeping the front of the quad level, kind of like stability control on a car. Installation was not a problem, carefully thread one shock through the frame and secure both shocks at the top with the original bolts. The x link canister is secured lower in the frame with the supplied fitting kit. As for the A – arms they look incredibly strong due to the simplicity of the design concept. Most other A-arms that offer camber and castor adjustment usually have a separate adjustment mechanism for each, (one at the frame anchor points the other at the hub ball joint). For the Walsh A-arms both castor and camber adjustment is achieved by screwing in (or out) the heim joint at the frame anchor point. This method of setting the camber and castor did however prove tricky though the set up instructions on the Walsh website are excellent.

Up on the handle bars we were going to fit a dual gasser combined thumb and twist throttle from terry cable, this would be ideal as Nathan and Ben both ride a twist throttle whereas myself I prefer the traditional thumb throttle. The unit was easy to fit and was of a good quality, I was impressed by how the mechanism between thumb and twist throttle actually worked and how easy it was to change between the 2. Unfortunately the unit did not come with a cable supplied with it (you have to have one specially made which we didn’t have time for) so after much experimentation with other cable combinations off came the dual gasser and on went a twist throttle.

To get more power from the stock engine we simply fitted a UNI air filter and a Motorworks FMI unit to complement a new Motorworks SR4 exhaust. Installing the exhaust system was effortless; it was almost as if the exhaust and ATV were made for each other! Additionally we swapped the stock 14 tooth engine sprocket with a 15 tooth and kept the rear at a stock 42 tooth, with this sprocket combination we have found gives better traction and acceleration than the standard combination, to ensure we would have the best traction in the worst imaginable track conditions I kindly donated my ITP Beadlock wheels fitted with ITP GNCC Holeshot tyres,

At the rear we simply replaced the stock shock with a custom axis blah de blah, unlike the front shock the rear was a traditional sprung damper with a plush ride system which offers a wider window of adjustment in smaller increments for compression and rebound adjustment. We also changed the width of the rear to +2 to match the front an easy task of changing the position of the spacers on the stock axle.

That was pretty much it for the modifications, due to there being a bank holiday in Germany the quad was sent a few days earlier than planned much to the panic of Nathan as it was a case of get the bits on and get it shipped! This would mean that most of the setting up and the fairy jobs would have to be done over at RMX racing.

Part 2 Next week arrive in Germany...

Custom Axis Pro Air and ITP MX Pro get the thumbs up..

We decided to do a banbury motocross meeting in wroxton to try out a few different suspension set ups on my new X Link Custom Axis Pro Air shocks. The track is a very fast and flowing track. Set in the middle of a vally going up and down hills with a few jumps and drop offs in. The track doesn't really get rough just a few bumps here and there so not the most physical track.

In race one I decided to use a set of tyres ive had for a while now but never used and save my ITP MX Pro for the championship meeting the weekend. I went off the line in race one and can see why I have never used them. They didn't hook up at all. I had a really bad start and was in about 6th place. I managed to pull up to 3rd but as the races were quite short that's where I stayed with Jamie Meade in 1st and Danny Smith in 2nd.

For the 2nd race to i decided to put the ITP MX pro's on. What a difference they made. I came out of the gate on the back wheels of the bike and holeshot the race. I had Jamie Meade close behind but kept going . Towards the middle of the race i had made a small gap on Jamie but Sam Harrison was coming. With about 2 laps to go me and Sam were rubbing wheels every corner. As we came up on a back marker I tried to jump past him but the backmarker swerved in front of me leaving a gap wide open for Harrison to come past, I decided if i didnt get past him now Harrison would come by me. So i pulled out in front of Sam and managed to get by him. With only 3 corners left to go it was getting very close. But I managed to hold him off as the shocks made easy work of the few bumps. Me and Jamie Meade was now tied on point for the day both having a 1st and a 3rd each. As we waited for our race the club was trying to water the track as by now it was very dusty. But as soon as they put the water on the track it just soaked away and they had to cancel the meeting. But because I had the better posistion in the last race I won the overall with Jamie in 2nd.

Over all it was a good days racing and the bike perforned very well. The shocks worked relly well and the X link System helped me keep on all 4 wheels in the corners and gave me plenty of confidence. I do know one thing though, I will always use ITP's from now on!

Ben Harman Pro Racer DS450 XMX2009

Qualifying
Arrived to find the track totally changed from a previous round, but have to say it
was in superb order.
I only got 1 lap of qualifying because the chain snapped, i don't how i done it
but i got a fourth place gate pick.

Race 1
My start wasn't the best into the first corner 6th place. Because i wasn't familiar
with the track it took me a while to get into a good rhythm. By the end of lap 1 i was still
6th, i started moving up the field and by lap 4 i was in 3rd place, with 1st and 2nd place ten seconds ahead as we came to the last lap i had caught up with them but was unable to pass them. Finished 3rd

Race 2
Got a very good start into the first corner in 2nd place, by the end of lap 1 i was still
in 2nd place pushing hard for first with the rest of the field 6 seconds behind.
I was feeling really confident on the bike and about to make a move when disaster
struck and my rear right tyre burst. So i just kept going as hard as i could, dropping down
to 7th place, and with one lap to go i managed to claim another two places to finish 5th.

Race 3
Got a good start 3rd into the first corner. By this stage the track was getting very one line
I pushed for second place for 5 laps, and on the 6th lap i used the top speed of the
Can-am and shot past 2nd down the back straight, finishing 2nd place.

Overall the day didn't go as smoothly as i would have liked but that's racing.
I still managed to finish 3rd overall on the day, and stretching my championship
lead to 53 points with 3 rounds remaining.

Irish Quad Championship Round 4

Gareth Mc Clean

Irish Quad Championship Round 4

Sandyhill Cork

Race 1
After qualifyng in second place it made things a lot easier as I had to get a good start because the track was so dusty. I got a good start in the first moto coming around in second place and challenging for the lead. Passing was very difficult in the dusty conditions and I put a lot of pressue on the first place man for three laps. After I got passed I pulled a ten second gap and won the race.

Race 2
This race was a disaster as my bike did not start on the line which meant I had to run back into the pits, pull out the spare bike and start on the back of the back row. On the first lap I passed eight people and then the lap after I passed another seven. On lap three before the line I passed three more then the race was stopped and I still dont no why so I managed to get a respectable 8th.

Race 3
After fixing the problem I was out on my preferred bike and managed to take the holeshot. It was a straight forward race and I lead from start to finised with an eighteen seond gap.

Overall I was pleased to get two race wins and an 8th place, to take a 3rd place overall, and extend my lead by 40 points. But I was very dissapointed about the second race, as I knew I could of had a top five finish, and a overall win on the day.

Round 2 Ulster Championship
Tinkerhill Motocross Park
Newry Co down

Arrived early morning to a superb Tinkerhill Motocross Track, were a lot of work had been done by
Quad Racing Ireland Club.

Qualifying
After a wet qualifying, i managed to get the second fastest time and a good gate pick for the first race.

Race 1
The track dried up quickly which was great, as i could really use the power of the Can-am. After a good start
i was sitting in fourth position and quickly moved into third position before i got to the first jump. By the end of lap 4
i blasted past second place on the straight, were i got into a good steady rhythm and finished the race in second place.

Race 2
The superb torque and handling of the Can-am saw me easly get the holeshot and pull away from the rest of the field.
Most of the track was now dry but rough and i could really attack the corners and pull out of them with the excellent power.
By the second lap i was eight seconds ahead of second place and pulling away lap by lap. It was a fairly straight forward
race as i lead from start to finish winning by 15 seconds. Finishing 1st overall on the day.

Overall i am very impresed with the Can-am as it can deliver the power whenever and werever i want, and i really attack
the corners as it handles so well with the PEP Supension.

The Adrenalin ATV Team have really done their home work on the Cam-am.

Next outing Support Class at the British Championship at Desertmartin

Gareth McClean still leading 2009 Irish MX.

Gareth McClean puts in the results again to continue and stretch his lead in the Irish MX Championship. See his race report below.

Round 3 of Motorcycling Ireland Quadcross Wexford

Qualifying
The heavy rain over night made qualifying very difficult as there was no grip anywhere and I could not use the full potential of the can-am power.

Race 1
After qualifying in first I got first gate pick which didn't really matter as the start line was in long fresh grass. As soon as it was our race it started to rain again which made they start even more difficult. I got a very disappointing start as i'm very light and the tyres jus kept spinning so I knew I had a lot of work to do. I knew I was a lot quicker than most people and because the conditions were awful my tactics were to ride consistently without making any mistakes. Passing was very difficult because if you got close enough to another rider your vision was very quickly reduce and if you went off line there was a very good chance you would of got stuck. Lap after lap I past many people but did not know who I was passing so I maintained a steady speed and past second place on the last lap. A second in the first moto was and helped my championship points.

Race 2
Due to the uncontrollable wheel spin in the first moto I knew I had to try something different, so I tried starting in third gear. This helped a bit but not much as I got to the first corner and was pushed out wide due to no grip. Again because of my poor start my tactic was the same as the first moto, to ride hard and consistently. As the race went on I did not have a clue what my position was all I knew was that no one had passed me which could only be a good. I managed to finish fourth in the second moto.

Overall I was very impressed how the can am dealt with the wet muddy conditions and with the superb handling of the can am which really made things a lot easier. I am still leading the Irish Championship by five points.

Congratulations to Gareth.

Despite losing a position I was pleased to have started the day with a respectable 6th place.

Race 2

Once again I had a poor start out of the gates but managed to regain a high position within the field thanks to a few hot laps within the start of the race. By this time the track was drying out and the loose sand was making progress difficult on this winding track, but I was still able to work my way through the pack to finish in 5th position. Considering this was only my third motocross meeting i was exceptionally happy with this result.

Race 3

The final race of the day saw once again a typically poor start, but as before I worked hard to push around the well rutted sand track. In such difficult conditions the going for all riders was especially hard but despite this fact I was able finish the day with a respectable 6th position.

After a thoroughly enjoyable and absorbing day I finished 5th place overall out of a 34 man field.

Aaron Rides an Adrenalin ATV Pro Can-Am DS450 and would like to thanks all our 2009 Sponsors, Silkolene Lubricants, Skins Performance Equipment , Kriega Backpacks, STR Lindstrands, ITP Wheels and Tyres, Epic Racing Products, Custom Axis Racing Shoxs, AC-Racing, Blingstar Industries, Motoworks, RPM Axels, , Dynojet, Rath Racing, Walsh Race Craft, UNI Performance Filters, Quad Magazine USA,

Gareth Mc Clean Racing Ulster Championship Race Report

Ulster Championship Semi Expert
Round 1 Donnamanna 14 April

Qualifying
Despite heavy overnight rain the sandy circuit held up well in timed practice and on my sixth lap I managed to post the fastest time in my class.

Race 1
I had a reasonable start going around the first left hand bend in about fifth place. I soon realised that the track was nearly completely different to timed practise. i adapted quickly to the rough circuit and moved my way into fourth then third and was quickly catching first and second. By the third lap I had taken over second and right behind first. I followed first place for five laps seeing where I was quicker until I carried more speed and jumped my way into first. Unfortunately my lead didn't last long as the back shock blue a seal over the very rough straight and I was thrown over the handlebars. By the time I got myself back on the race was over and i finished 15th.

Race 2
Due to the back luck in race 1 I had to take out the new Can-Am which was my first time on it and it was not set up. When the gate dropped the Can-Am took off and left the rest of the field behind it leaving me with a very comfortable holeshot. I could not attack the track the way I normally would due to the set up and by the time I got to lap four I was in sixth. Luckily my fitness which I have been working on came through and lap by lap I finally made my way into the top three. I was really happy with the new Can am, and with a little bit off setting up it will really make a big differance.I took a third place finish in race 2,and overall sixth place in the championship.

Next Ulster Championship Round April 25 Tinker Hill Newry

Garteth races an Adrenalin ATV Pro Can-Am DS450 for more information on this model please conatct us.

Gareth McCleanon top at Round 2 MCUI Irish Championships at Limerick

New Adrenalin ATV Rider Gareth McClean is showing he is up for the job on his new Can-Am Ds450 at the 2nd round of the MCUI Irish Championships at Limerick.

Qualifying
With some lucky I managed to find a bit of space to put in a decent time for qualifying. I qualified second and i was happy to get a good pick on the gate. With a few adjustments to the ride height and hardness on the shocks I was ready for the race.

Race 1
Was a pretty straight forward race as I came out of the first corner in first place and had the lead for a couple of laps. In the middle of the race I came under pressure by second place until they past me but it was under a yellow flag. Due to this I was awarded the race win.

Race 2
The can am got off the line really well and i thought I had the holeshot until I missed a gear on the straight. I ended up fourth out of the first corner but when I got to the second corner I stalled and put me near the back of the field. I quickly got the bike fired up and out jump people to get myself into a working position. As the positions dropped away I quickly moved up positions and was getting more and more confident with the bike. With four laps left I was fifth and again I was able to out jump two of them to put me in third. Three laps left I was battling with second place when I out braked them into one of the tight corners. This left me in second and it was too late to catch first.

overall i came second on the day with equal points to first place. i am feeling very confident with the can am into corners and when in the air. I feel that i can get a lot more out of the bike and more out of myself.

Gareth

Gareth McClean takes 2nd Overall in Round 1 MCUI Irish Championship at Gormanstown Dublin

Gareth McClean took a very well respected 2nd place overall in Round 1 MCUI Irish Championship at Gormanstown Dublin on board his new Adrenalin ATV Can Am DS450. This is his debut year on a 450 after coming off a Gas Gas 300. See below Gareths race report from a fantastic first outing:

Race 1
"Had a fantastic start taking the holeshot and leading from start to finish with a very comfortable lead throughout."

Race 2
"Just before my race it started to rain heavily. This affected my start but managed to pull of a fourth into the first corner. Two laps later the leader fell off placing me in third and catching second place. Due to the heavy rain I was struggling to find grip therefore I made a few mistakes when trying to pass second. So I had to settle for third place"

Race 3
"Had a very poor start in the middle of the pack but by the time I got to the first corner I found a way through to about sixth place. By the time I got to the second corner I was in fifth place. In the second lap all my tear-offs fell off and lost a place because of bad vision. When I regained my sight in the third lap I took another two places through bravery and late breaking. A few laps later I took over third and was catching second but due to not being fit enough yet I didn't have the strength to get past. Therefore finished in third."

"Overall took second place on the day and I am really liking and happy with the can am but still adjusting to riding it"

Adrenalin ATV

Stuart Jones wins MWTRA 3 - Round Winter Series on Adrenalin ATV Can-Am DS450

Adrenalin ATV rider Stuart Jones has won the overall MWTRA winter 3 round Quad series on board his Adrenalin ATV Can-Am DS450. He wrapped it up with a 1st place in round 1 and two 2nd places in rounds 2 and 3. On a very cold Sunday (-5c!) at the the Colstey Forest track, Stuart and Martin Benbow riding a Race Prepped Yamaha YFZ450 had a fantastic duel all day consistantly swapping 1st and 2nd places. At the mid way point Stuart had pulled a lead and pitted for fuel and left the pits whilst second place Benbow was being re-fuelled. On the out lap, unfortunately for Stuart an electrical issue caused a fuse to blow setting him back which allowed Benbow to catch up and pass. By the time Stuart had got going again, 1st place was out of contention but 2nd was still possible if he got the hammer down. This he did and managed to pull back 2nd place which was an awesome achievement considering he was running a stock engine and the time defecit he had to make up. This handed him the overall MWTRA Championship win.

Congratulations to Martin Benbow on his win on the day. Both his and Stuarts fastest lap times were identical at 16 mins 31 secs which gives you an idea of the duel that was going on throughout the race.

Congratulations also to Andy Mellor he was riding his new Can-Am DS450XMX and was suppose to be 'running it in' gently! He did however manage to claim 3rd spot just behind Stuart jones. An extremely good effort.

DS 450 gets its First GNCC Win and WORCS Championship for Josh Frederick

BRP Racers see More Wins and Championships - GNCC Pro Chris Bithell Gives the DS 450 ATV its First GNCC Win; WORCS Championship for Josh Frederick

This past weekend was a remarkably successful weekend of racing for all Can-Am X-Team racers. At the Unadilla GNCC, BRP Can-Am swept the overall wins for both the morning and afternoon sessions, in the process giving the DS 450 EFI ATV its first XC1 Pro-class win. And out west, the DS 450 also was crowned the overall champion in the WORCS racing series. In the northeast, the Can-Am Outlander 800R EFI ATV was awarded the Rock Maple Racing Quad Terrain Open West championship and to the south, the DS 450 X model took home the Virginia A-Class state championship.

Team Warnert Racing / Can-Am racer Chris Bithell pulled off a hard-fought victory on his DS 450 in the XC1 Pro class. Starting from dead last after the start, Bithell rode a strong race and worked himself into the lead after three laps. For the next two laps he remained at the front despite hard challenges from the fastest woods racers in the world. Bithell's win gives the Can-Am DS 450 its first GNCC win and overall. That win, combined with X-team racer Bryan Buckhannon's overall aboard his Outlander 800R ATV in the morning race session, marked a clean sweep of the Unadilla GNCC overalls.

Team Motoworks / Can-Am rider Josh Frederick won his second WORCS Pro-class championship by winning the Honey Lake WORCS race. Frederick piloted his DS 450 to the holeshot and never looked back. His teammate, Brandon Smith finished behind him and in the Pro-Am class, teammate Dillion Zimmerman took the win. It was a great weekend of racing for the Motoworks team.

Can-Am's new DS450 won both motos on Sunday, with John Natalie and Jeremy Lawson doing the honors and moving the company's tally to three moto wins this season. In addition, Lawson's podium finish represented his second consecutive runner-up effort and Can-Am's third overall podium this season.

Lawson won the first moto after overtaking both Wimmer and Josh Upperman (No. 20 American Honda/Baldwin Motorsports Honda) to take the lead.

"Everything just happened so fast," said Lawson. "These guys are so fast and you really have to be on your game. I am feeling really confident in my team, my bike and myself, so that makes me ride well."

Natalie earned his second moto victory of the year, after catching and passing Byrd and dominating the second moto.

"My Can-Am just pulls in this mud; we really had it dialed," said Natalie. "We considered putting on the big tires, but checked out a couple classes before we went out and decided against it which was the right choice."

Team Can-Am moved past Honda for second in Manufacturers' Cup points and is now just 43 points behind leader Team Suzuki.

Stephen Williams added a third 1st place podium this weekend in the QRA 4x4 class. At a new venue in Didcott in Oxfordshire Stephen rode a smooth and calculated race in hot dusty conditions to continue his un-defeated winning streak. Pursued closely by the Team Suzuki King Quad and a fellow Can-Am Renegade, Stephen once again stamped his authority on the 4x4 class in his debut season aboard the Renegade 800X.

Stuart Jones had a good race on the DS450 in the Pro Class. Starting from the back of the group, Stuart fought his way up the pack to get a 10th place finish overall. Stuart had to pit twice, once for a scheduled fuel stop and then again for a broken seat catch which was frustrating. He also stopped to help a fellow rider he was in difficulty after having an off on one of the MX sections. Without these stops, Stuart is now confident that he has his DS450 dialled in and will be ready for a full attack at round 4 in Wales. Watch this space!

Arron Marriott riding in the Stock Class had a good days racing on board his DS450X. He battled through dusty conditions to get over the finish line in 7th. This was a great result for Arron who is riding only his 3rd race!

Congratulations goes to Joe Harman he rode his DS450 for the first time in an Endurance event in the support class. Joe finished 3rd overall in class which was a huge effort considering this was his first ever enduro!

Well done to all the riders this weekend.

Stephen Williams piloted his Adrenalin ATV Can-Am Renegade 800X to his second 1st place podium finish in the QRA 4x4 class at Egbury this weekend. In wet conditions, the Renegade soaked up the tracks terrain to finish over 4 minutes in front of the second place Suzuki King Quad. Stephen is now set for the 3rd round on the 7th June down in Berkshire.

On a wet day it also proved that power is not always the answer. Phil Rowley on his Can-Am Renegade 500 led the 4x4 pack from the start heading off the attack from the bigger bore 700cc and 800cc machines proving that the 800's smaller brother can pack the punch with the heavyweights. Congratualtions to Phil on an impressive start to his 08 season.
